The Red Marble Onion is a versatile Cippolini type of onion. The full size squat bulbs with their zesty taste, popular with today's chefs, have excellent color and strong skins. This is a cool season, long day crop. Plant seeds closely (2-inch apart) for pink pearl onions or let grow to full size 1-1/2 - 2-inch wide by 1-inch tall. These onions braid beautifully and store very well. Plant the Red Marble Onion seeds indoors during late February to mid March and transplant outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked in the early spring.
