Shidare Yoshino can grow to 40' or it can be kept to 15' with appropiate care. The form can be kept to a specific height simply by allowing the limbs to weep. This makes weeping Yoshino very adaptable to many landscapes. It has a relatively fast growth rate, 2 1/2 feet per year. Extremely pendulous, in early spring its arching branches drip fairly with vast clusters of almond-scented, single flowers, white with the lightest hint of pink. Best flowering occurs in a full sun exposure. Appearing before the leaves, these blossoms create a heavenly, white cloud effect, enrapturing any who see it.After the blooms have been casts to the spring breeze, small 1/2-inch, shiny black fruit appears, much to the delight of area birds. Light green summer foliage turns a rich golden-orange in fall, then gives way to the winter display of deeply furrowed brown bark. Would add a nice touch to the residential or commercial landscape. Should be used as a specimen. Its form in my opinion is the greatest assets attractive in winter habit also. Is very attractive where it can be used in a mixed planting bed of other deciduous trees and conifers where each others forms can be accented. These cherries are 3-4 feet tall. These are shipped in containers with soilless media and a 9 month slow release fertilizer.
