The Moro Blood Orange is a mutation of a orange (Citrus sinensis) with crimson, blood-colored flesh. The distinctive dark flesh color is due to the presence of a red pigment, anthocyanin common to many flowers and fruit, but uncommon in citrus fruits.
The Moro has a deep purple flesh and reddish orange rind. The flavor is stronger and the aroma is more intense than a normal orange. This fruit has a distinct, sweet flavor with a hint of raspberry particular to blood oranges.
This is a dwarf patio/indoor orange tree producing full size edible fruit. Growing in 8-inch growth tube, tree 12-16 inches tall. Transplant into one to two gallon pot. Will flower and fruit in 18 months and be 3-5 foot tall.
