Pacific Northwest artisan, Tom Torrens, began his career in 1986 to create functional art for the home and garden. Today, his designs can be found all over the world.Torren's inspirations come from ancient forms of Asian art, the style of Frank Lloyd Wright and the sculpture of Alexander Calder. He uses material drawn from the earth - stone, steel, cooper and metals to create organic forms. His scultures adhere to his personal philosophy, "The design elements in my work are reduced to their simplest form. Only in this way the beauty, sound and visual integrity of the desighn be fully experienced."Tom holds a master degree in fine arts from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and taught sculpture on the university level for 15 years before founding his production studio.
