Bat houses have the highest success rate when placed directly on a building, facing south east, to catch the morning sun. The Looker Bat house is constructed with quality red cedar and an exterior grade plywood back. If you live in a colder climate, like Wisconsin, stain or paint your bat house a darker color, like brown, to help it stay warm on cool mornings. Bat houses should be mounted 15-20 feet above ground and while a building works best, they can also be mounted on a post, pole or even a tree.
It may take a season or two for the bats to find the bat house, especially if placed in a tree, they won't see it until the leaves are gone.
