The elegant armchair is crafted from Shorea wood, a semihardwood similar to teak, and is ideally suited for outdoor use. While rain and sun can damage lesser woods, Oxford's Classic armchair will endure season after season in your garden, weathering to a warm shade of gray. An ideal complement to Oxford's dining table, the armchair was built using mortise-and-tenon joinery (the most structurally sound method) and features solid wood dowel construction. You will receive the chair partially assembled; it only takes about 30 minutes to complete the assembly.
Made of dense and heavy shorea wood, this classic arm chair is ideal for rugged outdoor areas. It is very sturdy yet graceful. Our arm chair is very ample in width and makes an excellent dining table chair or an additon to a group setting. This chair is made of shorea, a teak family wood that is more dense and heavy than teak. Shorea requires no finishing and will not rot when left outdoors where rain and sun will damage other lesser quality woods. Left untreated, shorea will weather to a soft warm shade of gray similar to the weathering of teak. Sturdy mortise and tenon construction provides the highest quality joinery that will last for many years. Original color can be maintained by applying a seasonal coat of teak oil.
